so I'm starting this new job and i have been reading their memos and hearing it from employees. this job writes up people if they call in on the friday, saturday and sunday even if its just one day. also, they require you to get a doctor's note. even with a note you still get the write up. once you get 2 write ups, you're 3rd one would be termination. for me, it seems like they are punishing their employees if they call in on the weekends. but how about those that work monday thru thursday? does this sound legal? i honestly don't agree with it. i cannot tell my body to be sick at certain days other than my working days. i know some people call off but not really sick. but regardless, everyone is entitled to sick hours.

Casinos issue points for callouts. After a certain amount you are termed. Its perfectly legal and their right.

That is common in casinos, and other establishments who conduct more of their business on the weekends. We had a point system at my last place. 1 pt for a call-out during the week = 4 for a callout on the weekends.

If you dont like the system, dont take the job. A phenomenal employee wouldnt even be thinking this. You need to get priorities straight. Be glad they even offered a position withthat attitude going into a job.

NV is a right to work state. They don't need a reason to fire you. I've been in NV for 30 years and seen plenty of people called in and fired for much lesser reasons. The latest one two weeks ago at my current job was fired for "starting a rumor" about a supervisor. She was one of the best workers on our crew. There are plenty of people on our crew that are dead wood with multiple write ups that we would like to see gone. But if it's your day to go or someone gets a bug up their butt...see ya! Our employer has a policy of 3 write ups. But they seem to make it up as they go along about what is cause for immediate termination, even though legally they don't need a reason. And I'm not even in the gaming industry... office with about 75 employees.

You do know that concept 'right to work' has nothing to do with that, don't you?

What your talking about is a different concept, "At will" employment, IIRC.
