So, does anyone want to trade (or buy) my classic rock duplicates (all EXC+ to NM-) before I haul them all over to 11th Street and sell them there to make room for more albums?

Even better, anyone have commercial reel-to-reel tapes they want to be rid of?

I have hundreds of dupes. I have two Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab releases of Magical Mystery Tour, for instance. I'm in the process of cataloging my collection, so I'll have a complete list shortly. I'm up to the "Q's" -- Queen, Quarterflash, etc.

Then I have a few hundred unsorted records to add. Probably a week or so of work.

I might be interested in the MFSL Beatles records you might have. Do you also have Abbey Road and the White album?
I have these but would like to hear how the MFSL version sounds.

How are you doing the cataloging?

I have the entirety of the MFSL collection, just the one extra, though. Catalog is plain text.

There are some impressive collectors with some serious equipment on this board. Amazing.

I probably have the standard 60's, 70's and 80's collection. My wife and I noted when we got together (in 1985) how our record collections pretty much matched, album for album. We were definitely products of our time.

The difference was I insisted on better play and bought a studio four-channel TEAC reel to reel to put the albums on (the model George Martin used). That way, I saved the albums from wear (and resultant hiss/pops). As a result, many of my albums have only been played a few times - and that was to record them.

The only albums I have that may be worth some money are Japanese "master pressings" of the Beatle's albums. I bought them new in 1981 for $30 each - which was a lot of money at the time. They have each been played once (for recording).

Reel to Reel is about to come back in a BIG way. That's the next big thing.

Good to hear... those were good days. De-magging the heads and loading up reels was part of a ritual that seemingly made the music more worthwhile. And, watching them roll as the 4-channel gauges pinged up to the max ratings made for a visual show - particularly while stoned (hey, it was the 80's).

Classic 2 in walnut... On the Fly VTA and a Ruby tipped Soundsmith Aida Cartridge.

Why would I get vibration... Those are solid walnut tables, a 3" Walnut Isolation Block, 20lbs platter, and the analog system is 2.1 not 3.1

the center is only on during Digital playback or Home Theater.

The setup is sitting on carpet, about three feet from one of the speakers. And while the table may be walnut, and have an isolation block, it's still sitting on carpet and padding. It also looks like the speakers are sitting directly on the floor. I'd try a little air space under them.

As far as I'm concerned, the turntable should sit on something seriously heavy. (One person should be incapable of moving it.)

No matter what you do, loudspeakers create vibration. All you can do is minimize it.

I wouldn't rush out and buy three sets of Vibrapods -- just approximate and see if that makes things quieter.
