Here in Vegas I shop at Cardenas for a few things, then to farmers market, then to trader joes, I don't explore outside of my comfort zone? I've eaten a few places in chinatown for korean BBQ's, then to Summerlin for Brazilian Steakhouse or Hash House A-Goo Goo...I don't explore my comfort zone?

Is that "big picture" enough for you?
Thank you for the post…I did not mean to give you a hard time. I just want you to try to understand what I see in this city, and if you disagree, fine. But, at least you have another perspective that you have not considered…I would hate to see you regret you time here!

Here is another observation I have on this town:

The majority of people in this town employed by the casinos, so they have to participate in an environment that is full of idiots (my guess is over 90 percent of people entering a casino is a certified idiot), so this impacts them greatly, in a bad way.

For example, most of my casino "friends" tell me that the smoke, the noise, and the attitudes of the casino patrons, make their job "terrible". So, you have so many in this town that hate their jobs. Worse, there are little options for them to move onto other jobs. They are stuck. How terrible.

Again, the "money" grab in this town is just awful. Trust me, I used to "game" a lot, and did fairly well on some promotions and other +EV gaming, but I decided to no longer pursue that because the CASINOS ARE FULL OF IDIOTS…

Some people hate to admit this: The environment does impact an individual. We are all not just genetics.

Conclusion: if you surround yourself with many idiots over a period of time, the chances are you will become an idiot. Since Vegas is full of idiots and people catering to idiots, I will take a pass as soon as I can get a transfer opportunity on the East Coast, Midwest, South, or LA (the only great city on the West Coast).

See, when I was in my late 20/early 30s, I LOVED Vegas, but over the past decade I have matured. As it is written, "when I was a child, I thought like a child and did childish things…now that I am older (late 30s), I put away childish things"…

In Vegas, putting away childish things is not encouraged, which is why you see so many middled age and elderly people here acting like fools…..now that is insight and truth…thank you very much and you are welcome!

You need to expedite your departure from Clark County, NV, the environment here is not ideal for your health, your wallet nor your sanity according to your posts here at CityData. There will be others who will replace you and have a different and better outlook of what Clark County, NV has to offer.

Then you also need to understand my perspective of the city, I'm sharing my experiences here and the things I've enjoyed, anyone can do it too, just a matter of what you like doing. Stay at home, go bird watching, everyone has thier own definition of fun. I will not regret my time here I promise you, as a matter of fact I'm retiring in 2 years and plan to start a business, I see opportunities all around as other big companies and franchises.

Yes the casinos are the main employer here and most everyone work there, but It Does not mean that becaus you love Las Vegas you love casinos. We barely go to casinos....what happens in the casinos I have no control of so I don't worry about it. I worry about it I have the right tire for my dirtbike, or is my patio and pool ready to go for a weekend party.

The environment affects you only if you are around it...every city has good and bad, stay on the good side and you will be fine, it will not affect you....

I don't hang out in the Casinos so I don't see any idiots around, you must consider the tourist idiots too. I don't hang out with idiots I choose where I go and choose my friends and community, I have no worries...

Btw I'm in my 30's, have 3 kids and a wife, we all enjoy it here. I don't see people around me acting like a fool, because I know which environment to be in....my neighbors are retired police officers from another city....and another retired chemical engineer....it's all about life choices....

Majority of people in this town are not employed by the Casinos. About 15%. And of those less than a third are in major contact with the tourists. Most are in the hotel end. So at worst 5 or 6% of the Vegas population are in the heavy tourist interaction business.

You have not matured you have soured as you aged. It happens. The idea that visiting Vegas has some connection with intellignece seems to reflect more on your souring than on the actual people who come here. I attended many events in Las Vegas in earlier years. It was part of my employment. And the people I came with and dealt with were among America's best and brightest.

Sure thing, chief.

America's best and brightest…good for you.

At the end of the day, Vegas will still be a mediocre town, for people that don't want to grow up. I have not soured, but I have matured and understand the world better, and much better than you and any other poster will, because I have done the self work and understand the unseen, unlike the majority of you.

Have a good weekend!

This another bogus post, extremely short sighted and narrow viewed. Mediocre town that's known around the world? Ask the tourist that come here every year or just look at the increasing tourist numbers, look it up.

Most people that came here are grown, only the ones that came from California have not. Btw every time I see a California license plate on the highway, I stay away as far as possible. Not to mention the attitude that they bring....ask any Californians, they will tell you the truth.

As far as growing up, I've grown earlier in life, when I was younger, my job allowed me to travel all over the world, even in dangerous places which I won't mention. I have seen and experienced many things more than you.....so please don't assume.

Btw, we have a get together with my friends at Lake Las Vegas this weekend, just testing out new unmanned technology, join us for steak and wine if you like, otherwise enjoy Vegas as usual!

Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? Dozen of their reports. I would live here some weeks though we would fly home at night.

Thank you for pontificating that your view and understanding of the world is far superior to everyone else.

I don't think much more needs to be said!

Please spare the comparison, east coast weather sucks period! Where have you been last year? And oh by the way i'm not a big fan of places that has people elbow to elbow in almost public places.

Like I have said before, we are not on the same level, I am just sharing my experiences here from the last 5 years , plain and simple. If I'm able to do more than average people then so what, this is what america is all about, freedom and the pursuit of happiness no matter where you are.

May you have a better life ahead of you, as for me and my family and the community where I live, WE have already found it! Go on your merry way while I enjoy my wine and steak!
MarryoVilla...I said MOST of the other areas are not great...that is a true statement. Yes there are some but overall Las Vegas is a desert hole.

East Coast weather suck and some people would say 100+ degree weather for 3 months suck. Having no rain and a drought sucks. Having no real natural vegetation sucks. If you really believe this is the ultimate location for weather you are kidding yourself.

Yes we are on a different level, I'm in reality and you are in a fairy tail...someday you will wake up and realize you spent so many years in the middle of the desert for nothing.

My experience mirrors all of Raiderman's points. I just passed the 5 year mark and won't be packing up.

I am baffled though when people in this thread say there is nothing to do but gamble in this town...clearly you lack in any imagination or Google-Fu. I spent a day this week in Bullhead Arizona.... that is a town that you can accurately say there is nothing to do except gamble....or do meth and/or heroin.
