Hi, I hope someone knows the answer to this. I have read the information on the DMV site but the language they use makes it difficult to tell which rules are for teens and which are for adults.

My son is 19, almost 20. I was hoping he could get his license by the end of 2015. He's been practicing on a Mass. learner's permit (according to the interwebs, this is legal in NV as long as a person over 21 [me] is in the car with him). I figured we would go to the DMV this week to get his NV permit and immediately schedule his driver's test. Not sure how long it takes to get an appointment here, but in Mass it takes about two months, which would put us right at our goal of end-of-2015.

However, looking at the DMV site today, it states:

- he must complete a "new driver's" log of 100 hours (!!) of driving
- he must have his permit for six months before he gets his license

I have a feeling those rules are for teens, but the website doesn't really specify, or maybe I'm looking at the wrong spot. Does anyone know for sure?

That would be a "new ADULT driver," not the OPs inquiry about a "new ADUT driver."

Really? We have resorted to commenting on spelling? I think we all figured out what OP meant. Go back to your bridge troll.

I would just call the DMV to get the best answer to your question, you are right that the language they use make it difficult to figure out.

It doesn't apply to adults. My son got his license at nineteen.
None of the "teen" requirements applied.

You pass the written and get an instruction permit, you learn to drive ( hopefully with the help of a good school like Safeway or a person with nerves of steel ) and then you take your driving test.
