I think the MGM parking plan will be a disaster and they will backtrack at some point. This is not like resort fees.

If they charge $15-$18 you're already paying the tip so $0 is moot.

I started tipping $5 on the way in and $2 on the way out if they are full. Downtown, it's just $2 on the way out, as the place I valet is never full and has never had a "hotel guests or "xx" level player" sign. I do the same on the strip when there is no full sign. I have no desire to find a parking space in a garage, so valet wherever I go with the exception of GVR and Silverton, where the parking is directly outside the door.

As much as I don't like MGM's policy, I wouldn't take it out on the valets. If you want to protest MGM's policy, don't go there, and somehow let them know the fact.

Wishful thinking?

Indeed. Wishful thinking.

This is exactly the same kind of blowback the resort fees received. People whinged on about those like scalded babies, as well. And absolutely they lost some long-term customers over the fees. And they cried all the way to the bank as they raked in all those resort fees from the people who didn't really care.

Same deal here -- the difference is, this is going to make them considerably more money. Budget players woefully underestimate their importance to the resort's bottom line.

When and if we valet we give 3 to 5 dollars on the way in and out... Sometimes though I could have dropped off everyone in front of the elevators in the garage and found a place quicker than I have been valeted...

So it just depends on if we valet or not.. BUT please give a decent tip... UNLESS you see them doing burnouts or whatnot with your car.....

Do people valet just to valet on every visit to a casino? If so, I'm thinking these people are/were getting spoiled by the free/cheap service of having someone park and bring your car to you. Las Vegas is catching up with the rest of the other major cities that charge for parking.
