Tuesday is going to be stupid hot. I bet we get areas with 117 since the official thermometer they base all their crap on is in the shade at the airport. I've noticed, driving around, that certain areas run a lot hotter than what the news says.

Whew! That's hot. Probably not too many golfers out there unless they start at 6 am and even then......

I'd still rather deal with the summer heat out there than the 9+ months of crap weather in Chicago. Here it's cold and snowy all winter and then it rains all summer. I'd put the over/under at around 90 really nice days in a year.

The reason is "lift". They have to take the official highs at the airport to determine how much weight they can put on the planes. Heat controls lift. It is just a well known thing among locals that it will be hotter than the official highs in lower parts of the Valley in summer, and cooler in winter. Since heat rises and cold air sinks, I have no idea why it's not cooler in summer in the lower parts of town even though a weatherman gave me a very educated explanation. Sounded like Greek to me. It is also cooler in the higher parts of town. It will be 3º cooler where I am.

I know, it's just irritating how humans keep doing stupid crap.

Meanwhile, I am going to go outside and shovel some sunshine.

The week we did a staycation at Caesars Palace recently it was 110 and higher. I knew then that I'd acclimated to the desert southwest from the Pacific Northwest. I walked around outside touring the strip with my family all day for several days and it didn't phase me, but my family from the PNW overheated every half hour and had to take breaks. They'd turn all red and needed something cool to drink. It was concerning.

Then this last week when it was in the 90's again I thought that's nice weather to go outside and work on the vehicles. lol

My kids are outside playing right now. Not because I'm making them, but because they want to. The heat doesn't bother them.
Same with me, I'm going to be working outside all weekend. Yesterday I was out welding (stick not tig) in the the sun wearing long sleeves and jeans.

I have a couple friends that showed up yesterday from Florida, they are loving the weather. They're not all sticky from humidity like in Florida.

My wife, she can't deal with the heat. She gets all red and hates going out in the summer.

The problem isn't the 110 high, it's that it is still around 105 until 10pm and then under 100 only after midnight. Except for the heat loving people the longest days of the year will be wasted running inside and staying there.
