Found out Station Casinos do not offer paid sick days to its employees. So if you call in sick 1 day, you get an infraction. If you call in 3 days, its still 1 infraction. If you call in 2 days, work on day 3 and call in sick on day 4, its 2 infractions. Now if you call in sick more than 3 consecutive work days, you're automatically placed on unauthorized leave of absence. If you have to be off more than 3 consecutive work days, you have to apply for FLMA but Station says you have to be employed for 12 mos to qualify for FLMA. If you worked for 10 mos, you're screwed cuz of the unauthorized leave of absence. All this crap cuz you're off the books due to no sick time . Is no sick time an industry standard with Boyd, MGM and Ceasar properties?

That's nuts! No wonder they have huge protests and demonstrations by workers outside their places periodically. I still recall the scene outside Red Rock one summer with police officers and protestors. It took forever to get threw.

Boyd, MGM, Caesars, Wynn, Sands all use PTO and the point system for absences. Welcome to casino life.

Is PTO personal time off as in 3 personal days? How does the point system work?

OK I just researched PTO (paid time off) and the point system. PTO sounds great because you can use it for sick or vacation. At least you're getting paid while being sick. I guess the point system is not bad too because even though you're not getting paid to be sick at least you're not getting an authorized leave of absence right after the 3rd day. My understanding if you're not eligible for FLMA, an unauthorized leave of absence is grounds for suspension. Thinks its time for me to go back to county employment.

PTO ( Personal Time Off) is accumulated as you continually work. Each company has its own formula on how its accrued. Once you have built up enough time then your eligible to take it off or bank it. If you call in sick and you have PTO available you may use it to cover the lost wages, You will still get a point because its considered an unscheduled absence. Point system is the policy HR makes the departments adhere to when disciplinary action is needed for excessive unscheduled absences.
