We have big Ottos for garbage and recycling that sit outside the garage and get rolled to the curb on Thursdays.

Because we don't want to go outside every evening to throw away the trash, we had a trash can inside the garage for day-to-day stuff that we would empty into the big Otto whenever it would fill up.

Well, eventually that thing would smell up the entire 1000 square foot garage.

So we ditched it and just walk the garbage outside every day.

Unless you have bears, it's really the best solution.

The cans shouldn't be stinky if he is tying his kitchen trash up tightly in stufdy plastic bags and not stuffing them so full that they split. Tuna and pet food cans should be rinsed out thoroughly before trashing them. Food scraps go down the disposer. He's lucky if he only has stink; flies and rats are next if he keeps doing it like he is.
