Sounds like the public financing is no longer a problem, they just need to pick a site so they can get this approved.

Get ready for a new stadium Vegas!!
They picked sites to focus on, didn't discuss the financial issues today. If in your world that means there are no problems with public financing then go ahead and celebrate.

They are only focused on finding a site and once that is done they are sending it in for a vote. The financing is good to go, they want to finish everything up on Aug 25th but have two other meetings set up just in case anything pops up in sept.

There's 3 entities that will be vying for additional room tax revenue, the Las Vegas Convention Authority for their expansion into the old Riviera site, RTC for a rail line between the Airport and down the Strip, and the stadium.

So let's prioritize! And who shall win?

My guess: whoever owns the LV Review Journal which keeps pumping for the stadium over the other 2!

Wrong, they have already said the Stadium and the Convention expansion will be done when this tax is approved

No public money on the stadium and enough nickle and diming the visitors, it will surely backfire and these visitors will find other destinations to enjoy their vacation.

Back of the envelope calculations:

$750 million public financing
Average room in LV is $136 @ 1% additional room tax equals $1.36 per room per night
150,000 rooms in LV @ 90% traditional occupancy rate equals 135,000 room

135,000 x $1.36 = $183,600 in taxes collected nightly.

$750 million divided by $183,600 equals 4,085 nights so just over 11 years to pay for the stadium without any interest.

That doesn't take into account care and feeding of a billion dollar stadium....

Economic recessions have a nasty way of re-appearing, in some form or another, every 8 years or so, and is that being put in the calculations?
