I am looking to meet some pet owners. I have dogs right now but I want some little critters to take care of too. I've owned pets my whole life, but I don't know exactly what type I want now. I'd like to handle some and get a feel for exactly what they need and how playful they are.

I am interested in the following species:

chinchilla
sugar glider
rat
chameleon
bearded dragon

Please let me know if you have any of these and would be willing to introduce me. Or if you know of any clubs or groups for owners of any of these types of animals.

Thank you.

I have children. You can have them and take care of them.

My niece had Sugar Gliders which are nocturnal by nature. Unless you stay up all night, they are very boring unless you like watching critters sleep.

No thanks, children are sort of like pets but with none of the benefits.

I'm a night owl myself, and have done a lot of reading about sugies in particular. Unfortunately all the reading in the world doesn't compare to real life experience, so if possible I'd very much like to meet some in-person to help form my judgment. I'm actually leaning pretty heavily against them but I'd still love to meet some gliders. They are tooooooo cute~!

They are absolutely adorable! They ended up selling them because they made such a racket at night that they woke everyone up! Cutest things ever!

I figure people were busy with the holidays. Or maybe I'm just the only weirdo animal lover here.

As a former Chinchilla owner I will chime in. Unless you love cleaning up after your pets non-stop I would advise against them as they are very messy. They are also very finicky eaters and if you spoil them just one time, they may refuse to eat any regular food again expecting only treats from that moment forward. They are great fun to play with and let run around the house in gated off areas though. They just crap 24 x 7 and almost like a monkey do not want their crap in their cage so it is constantly on the floor around their cage because they throw it out all the time.

I have a California King Snake that is the best pet ever. He is 4 1/2 feet long and almost 17 years old. You feed him twice a month, make sure he has plenty of water at all times. He makes no noise. Doesn't crap all over the house. I take him out and play with him daily and best of all my in-laws are TERRIFIED of him so it keeps them out of the house.

I'm not a fan of snakes. Don't like feeding them -- everything they eat is cute
