Ok I'm sure people came here expecting a DMV rant. Today I have to go for a license renewal and I have to say the DMV on Sahara had a good system going.

At arrival the line out of the door was long. It took about 1/2 hour to get to the information desk and then another hour and half to see the DMV rep. We are talking after I got my number to see the rep there were over 100 people in front of me but as I said they have a good system going to handle the masses of people.

Not a bad experience considering how many people were there... Oh yes. The new location is across the street from Kmart...

You have to stand in line to stand in line. I am sooooo glad my new van was registered online. I never had to step foot in the dmv. They just mailed my tags and registration. Now we just need to work on the costs. 578 to register a minivan is insane.

Just make an appt. using dash pass. I was in and out in 30 minutes, including picture. New license is a real ID and is good for eight years. Beware though, anyone with a birthday in an even number year has to get the 8 year license ( seniors exempted) and it's around $45.

Same experience at the Flamingo DMV when I registered my car. Made appointment online. Went to special appt checkin line at DMV. Waited for 1 min and then was immediately called to get my car registered. In and out took less than 45 mins.

Is this the one on East Sahara? We just make an appointment too. It's real quick. Bypassed the the long line that goes out the door and wraps around the building because you go inside to check in at the appointment desk which is a different much shorter line. Actually there's no line there for the appointment desk because you go sit down in a chair until the last four digits of your telephone number is called. I think it only took us 15 minutes recently.

I was told they stopped the pre-appointment process and when I got there I was informed that they started it up again. Yet for all the madness I was impressed with the whole process. This time.

Arrive about 15 minutes before they close the front doors. You'll find the employees get extremely efficient, and paper pushers in the back come up front to work, all so everyone process the customers and then leave for the day.

I had a similar experience at the Flamingo location when I moved here. In and out in less than an hour and that included having my vehicle inspected and putting on the plates.

Wow must be pretty new van. I know a mid 2000s model Honda Odyssey cost about $110 to register because my friends has one and I saw the registration paper.

Ouch, estimated cost is $435 to register my crossover SUV! Does it get any easier paying this each year?
