Just curious if LV is getting any of the heavy rain CA is getting? If so, is the water level in Lake Mead rising at all?

Las Vegas is getting a lot of rain for us, but in terms of inches of rain, we will never get as much as LA. If we got one inch it would be big news. You are getting about three inches from what I've heard.

As far as the lake, a little rain in Las Vegas makes no difference whatsoever. The water in the lake comes from the snow in the Rockies. As soon as that melts we'll let you know. They've had a lot more snow than normal this year, but don't count on a big rise in water level. It would take several years of higher than normal snowfall in the Rockies to raise Lake Mead's, water levels, For one thing they would first have to release more from Lake Powell.

Last I checked (this morning) the lake was up 16 feet and still rising. It's still 140~ feet low. I despise rain, but I really want to see the lake full. I hate that white ring.

If go unwanted to know where the lake level is going, don't look at local precipitation. Look at what's happening to the snow pack on the western slope of the Rockies. That's what's going to be coming down the Colorado River in the spring.

No big news in the weather here...

A few showers but nothing remakable and kind of a drizzle the rest of the day (at least in west central Las Vegas).

Looks like Green Valley/Henderson MAYBE got more.

Based on the link above, the water is only 4' above where it was last February when I was there last but it's up almost 17' since it's low in July.

Lake Mead level is almost entirely artificial. It is mostly controlled by the quantity let out of Lake Powell. Local rain does get to the Lake but it is a minor side thing.

At the moment it looks like the best snow year in a while. So both Lakes may deepen. Too soon to be sure though.
