If you are a local, can you use the swimming pools at all the hotels if you are not staying at the hotel? Do they check room keys/cards to enter the pool areas?

Thanks

Default you are kidding right?

No you cannot use the pools at the hotels unless you are a hotel guest.

For some reason I got the visual of all the caddies visiting the country club pool in Caddyshack.

But...if you scrounge around the outlying communities, you can probably slide into an apt complex and get into a pool there. Many people would climb the gates where we stayed and swim.

There are some public pools that Clark County (I think) runs. They're only a few dollars to use, and most of them have a rec center attached. The one at Desert Breeze Park on Spring Mountain is very nice. I believe that it also has a basic slide.

Once upon a time, I was among the opening staff at the Hard Rock Hotel. We used to go to the pool on the weekend sometimes. That sand/beach entrance to the pool was cutting edge at the time. It was an awesome pool, and I'm sure it is now. Don't you know someone that works in a fabulous hotel to get you a couple extra room key cards? Not that I advocate that kind of behaviour...
