Also, if they are publicly traded, number of subscribers for each service looks good to investors.

Cox has been a private company since 1985.

They must be getting a corporate tax benefit by pushing bundling. Maybe because of phone service.

It might be, but that's what service they are offering, not a limitation of the medium they are delivering it on. Cox has always offered symmetrical speeds on cable, to business's paying for it.

Another way to prevent home users from hosting internet services is to block commonly used ports for HTTP/S, FTP etc. Perhaps that is what they are doing. Regardless, unless you plan on hosting a service or uploading gigabytes of video to Youtube, high uploads speed is worthless and a waste of bandwidth. But since no one can actually take advantage of that upload speed, I guess it's not wasted. Just a nice marketing tool.

I wasn't sure about that. Wondering why they do their weird bundling pricing that way, then?

So I called this morning, she came back with there's nothing she can do I have the cheapest plan (86$ for 50mb internet + local channels!)

I asked what services do I need to add to lower the bill. She then said if I drop tv and replace it with a landline, it will drop down to $68.

Sign me up lol.
