Taking 5 dollars out of a $30 pot is absolutely unfair. Period! As they say, if you don't like it don't play. I am adjusting by not playing nearly as much. Taking 5 dollars from a 50 dollar pot is much b etter than taking $5 out of $30 of course. Bellagio is looking better and better. Thing is , Bellagio's lowest game is a 4/8 limit game. That doesn't run much either.

Aria/Bellagio take $5 max. Venetian with it's new promotions now takes $5 drop $2 promotion which is really rediculous on a 1 man limped pot meaning there is just $12 in a 2/5 game in the pot and they automatically take $3.... $7 pot in a 1/3 game and $2 goes down the promotion box and if no betting goes on the casino just won as much as you did that hand, $2. So yeah I see people cringing and taking it out of the dealers tip. I am sure it will hurt them overall but I am not sure if they can afford to quit.

Soon $8 will be the standard. I am not sure what to do then.

I just laugh so hard when people complain about the rake in Las Vegas and how they forget they get paid comps to play.

Go play anywhere else in the US and especially anywhere else in the world and you won't be complaining about rake anymore.

You can get comps almost everywhere playing poker these days, not sure what makes you think Vegas is different.

Go play elsewhere and you might actually enjoy the game and have a shot at making some money. Play in a Vegas NL game midweek these days and you'd think everyone was trying to be a poker pro, folding 98% of the time. I played for 2 hours in a 1/3 game on the Strip not that long ago on a weeknight evening and there were only two pots over $100. One ended up being split, players had the same hand. The other was won by a higher flush. At least 3 hands each round were no action, blinds chopping. I won $15 and considered myself lucky, stole a pot with a modest pot with a bluff and realized other than that it was just going to be a slow bleed off with only the house getting any money. Players were putting in for table changes, but the other games didn't look any better and each new player seemed to be playing like the one who left.

Nowhere else is the smallest game a rock-fest like Vegas is. Games are likely to dry up real quickly in the not too distant future, house doesn't make that much either with all the chopping and small pots.

Agree about the rockfest, it especially applies to smaller games. You either need to go up a lot in stakes or hunt better games.

The rake is higher in most other places.

Yes, there are far better games in California and Florida, and Maryland to name a few.

If find this interesting. One of the think that separated Vegas from the other cities is the vast quantity of tourists in the games. In other cities, most of the players are locals, who need to drive to the games. This cuts down the alcohol factor. In Vegas, I noticed a lot of players actively drinking on the tables, since they're tourists staying on the strip, and driving is not a factor. It's one of the parts of playing on the strip that I liked. I learned to time my sessions to prime drinking hours, and never had a losing session when I did that.

It's been a couple of years. Is this no longer the case?

Vegas is one of the few places that still have a decent number of fish playing poker.

Go anywhere else its nitty as &*+# on top of the outrageous rake.

I used to play at Commerce Casino in Commerce CA near Los Angeles. The $400NL or the $500-1500NL games were incredibly action filled. I haven't been there in recent years, but players were big risk takers and crazy betters. The blinds were high which encouraged this type of play. Lots of fun, but easy to lose several buy in's pretty quick.

I've never played in LA.. But it makes sense there would be a lot of action players.

That threatened at one point, but it never happened.
