You've obviously never been on the Boulevard of Death.

Also, I've been to NYC. The only reason there aren't more vehicular casualties is because it's impossible to kill anyone when you hit them with a car going 2 miles an hour, and that's about as fast as I've ever seen anyone be able to move in that city.

There’s a little group of folks who sit in a builder’s office in Summerlin who regularly troll here with Henderson-hating posts. We, who live in Henderson, are flattered that you guys are so worried about people choosing Henderson over Summerlin that you post these things!

Always a first time poster, too!

Not only that, everyone on this site lives in the best part of town.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all with some of the Pod People I met in Summerlin. I try to avoid cults and cult-like thinking, which is why I picked the spot on the map furthest away from Summerlin. Lol just teasing

I wonder how anyone can survive this. I wonder who would want to. I feel for people with children who may lose their lives as a result of being on the road with the fifth worst drivers in the nation. Pillbillies, alcoholics, drug induced drivers. Not to mention the ones who are driving in teams to commit insurance fraud. Get a dash cam so you can record these idiots. I'm submitting to Utube so the world can see. I'll be leaving here soon after only a few months before something happens in Vegas. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas....they're talking about ending up in a funeral home. I don't even see police anywhere. In months..I have never seen a police officer or a police vehicle. Where I come from, this would be cop's heaven. DUI's and idiots would certainly help a cop make quota over here. No doubt. It's sad. I'll post real time jerks on Utube so everyone can see what I'm talking about. This is no exaggeration. If you value your life...move somewhere else.
If you think this is bad, try LA or DC for a few months.

In your defense, Metro is the most useless PD I've ever dealt with and NHP has next to zero presence on traffic enforcement. Not sure how Henderson stands.

Yup, lots of DUI here. The agencies aren't and probably won't effectively deal with the problems. It is what it is. You can learn to drive defensively and avoid accidents. If you plan to stay here and aren't up to speed on defensive driving skills, a few classes may be all you need to keep yourself safe.

I've lived here for years now and knock on wood no accidents. I did learn to drive in areas with poor traffic enforcement and aggressive drivers.

We have HOA board members armed with pitchforks lining the wall to beat back the scourge coming over the wall to rob and assault our landscaping. When the Raiders come, the whole town is going to erupt in apocalyptic chaos. Have a great day. Heading to the basement as soon as my mom finishes my laundry and makes my breakfast.
*Ding ding ding* love it! We have a winner!

Have you ever driven Maryland Pkwy? They don't need a light rail, traffic isn't a major issue. They do need to boot all the crackheads, homeless, and ex convicts back to Cali where they came from.

I have witnessed maybe one minor altercation and one angry man that lost his cell phone and was swearing loudly and agitating other riders. That is two incidents in 12 months. I don't have problems at the bus stops or the bus itself and I have rode the Lake Mead bus, the LV Blvd. North bus (113), and the 219 Craig road bus which is the bus I ride to work. Never accosted, hassled one time and the driver immediately intervened and it stopped.

So, I'm sorry but your story especially based on your small sample reference just is not true. I learned the subways in Brooklyn and rode that for 10 months and people on here deride the Vegas bus system, citing NYC. Only difference really is that I might walk a bit further, which is good for a 48 year old man to do anyway. I enjoy walking around North Las Vegas and taking the bus while enjoying my music.

And of course the subways come every 15 minutes and Vegas is usually 30 minute max wait. I lived in Nashua, NH and they too have no state income taxes and a much worse climate. Nashua had 80,000 people and those buses arrived every hour and stopped around 7pm. We have nothing to complain about here.

I am much more worried on the rare occasion I go to Wal-Mart about having problems with my fellow shoppers as opposed to other riders on the bus. To top it off I am a white man who wears clean and preppy, nerdy, dorky but not cheap clothing. No tatoos or piercings. I am almost always the racial minority on at least four different routes. I look out the window and listen to music on my phone. I do not get bothered.

I don't see why the city is not walking friendly. What is the criteria? We have plenty of sidewalks. I walk a lonely stretch of sidewalk between Craig/LV Blvd and the Federal medical center. It's a sidewalk. Not in a state of disrepair. I like it. I need the exercise too. That is like my private little slice of peace while others
drive by in those man made mechanical movers.
I was born and raised the n NY and the sidewalks and roads in LV are excellent compared to anything in NY.

It'll be interesting to see what Vegas looks like in 10, 20 years. There are some areas that are a bit too far out for me that I suspect are going to be really nice areas with more retail built up in the future, specifically SE Henderson (lots of nice houses I saw there, great value for your money, tons of land on many of the lots compared to what you'd find anywhere else) and NW Vegas up above Summerlin, where it's a similar situation, lots of land, some really nice communities and houses, a bit far from retail for me. I can imagine those areas that are "far out" now are eventually in the middle of a whole new area that arises near them. I suppose that depends on the BLM, though, and where expansion heads next.
I can't imagine Henderson ever having been "much nicer". The old parts of Henderson are filled with 1960s and 1970s tenament tract housing with aluminum wiring and no insulation on tiny, affordable lots that I should imagine, fit the blue collar, industrial demographic clientele that worked there.

I'm not saying this is bad, but old Henderson was never Summerlin no matter how one may wax poetically about the "good old days."
