I was driving home today and on Durango just south of the 215 there was a huge sign saying that a piece of land there had been zoned for a new Station hotel and casino. Does anybody know anything about this?

Aliante station is not on durango just south of the 215. Aliante station is on the northeast side of Aliante parkway/215.

I think there is supposed to be another stations casino going up in the south.

I believe it's going to be called Durango Station... not the most creative name. From their Wiki page...
Quote:
  • Flamingo Road-At Clark County 215 and Town Center Drive, Summerlin
  • A site located near Cactus Road on the South Las Vegas Blvd.
  • Durango Station On South Durango Drive at Clark County 215 near the Rhodes Ranch planned community. Announced plans for a bowling alley and movie theater at this location. The design is shown to be similar to the of Red Rock Station.
  • Siena-Across from the Siena age-restricted community on Town Center Drive, Summerlin.
  • Aliante Station in the planned community of Aliante on a 40 acre site at Clark County 215 and Aliante Parkway. A joint project with The Greenspun Corporation owning 50%. Construction to begin in 2007. Gaming entitlement for this site is not know.
  • Station Casinos continues to own the land that the former Castaways (the one on Boulder Highway) used to stand on.
  • The Wild Wild West hotel on West Tropicana. Due to the special proximity of this site to the Las Vegas Strip, Station intends to build a tourist oriented megaresort on this site.

I know Stations purchased lots of acreage behind the Wild Wild West from some trucking companies. However, that has to be a awful location for a megaresort. The traffic is already horrific in that intersection.....

Station announces plans for a $10 BILLION (yes billion with a "b") mega-complex west of the I-15 at Tropicana and Valley View.

All I can say is wow..... This would be even more expensive than City Center. Who knows if it will actually happen.

station resorts

It's Durango Station. It's been planned since ground first broke on those neighborhoods, back in 2002-2003. In fact I probably have the original land plans somewhere from when we purcahsed our condo back in '03. It's changed slightly over the years, but they are still planning on it being there, however they have yet to break ground.

I'll believe it when I see it. It ought to be interesting since the new Sullivan Square community is going to be two block north at Sunset/Durango. Can we say...traffic nightmare?
