Plenty of 1 bdrm condos in 120k range and would only require a 4k downpayment. Monthly would be a little more than renting the same place but that's the trade off of FHA.

Maybe after this downturn construction workers will take whatever jobs they can get and that'll translate to condos that are under 100k but that seems like a long shot. More likely housing prices tank and your best bet if you were wise and saved up is to get in while the getting is good.

I wonder if homeownership is higher in Reno than it is in Vegas. Reno seems more typical of the rest of America, less surprise = more trigger pulling for home buying.

I'm so glad I'm not a landlord. I never will be after this ordeal. If I ever am a landlord, it will be because I didn't want to sell the current place I live in and I moved to a bigger home if I ever get married, but that be the only reason. I'd probably end up selling this place before doing that though.

My ex-landlord is an *******. I don't wish bad on anyone, but I hope all his tenants aren't paying because he's a horrible person who screwed me out of a good chunk of my security deposit when I left the place in pristine condition. I'm so glad I'm an owner every day.
I never stiffed a good tenant out of a deposit if they returned the place in pristine condition. That would encourage bad behavior in the future and that isn't something I want to be a part of.

Good for you for owning, I hope you have reserves for this incoming downturn.

I have 6 months of emergency expenses, a high credit limit, still have my job, but I'm taking a 20 percent pay cut while this is going on, but it's better than nothing. I also don't have credit card debt, pay it off every month or live high on the hog. I also have an 800 credit score, but I only make $35,000 before taxes, but I've gotten 4 raises at my job since I started in 2017 and like everyone else, will get that $1200 check that will go to my bank from the government for expenses over the next few months that will offset my pay cut at work.

I also have a pretty good home warranty. In 2 years almost living here, I've only had one minor issue with one appliance.

I read tonight that Boyd Gaming, Station Casinos and Wynn Resorts plan to reopen by May 1st so here's hoping the others do too. It said workers are expected to be notified two weeks prior to reopening so maybe someone on here will let us know.

I saw that meme too where she lived in 450sq ft with several others for years. It does put it into perspective. I have around 2000sq ft and one other person half the time with the occasional visitors and I still feel stir crazy. Something about being told I can't do something.

IMHO there should be a minimal work requirement associated with receiving a welfare check. Don't like it? Get a job. There are plenty of trashed up streets, graffiti, parks, etc that need to be cleaned up all over this city.

Being on welfare shouldn't be easy or pleasant. There should also be time limits. I don't care how many kids LeKeisha decides to pop out - if she's on it longer than 2 years she gets the boot.
I totally agree with you on this. It's a total travesty that some people are now making more on unemployment than when they were working. I agree to make people WHOLE, but not give them more. It makes no sense.

Ya, I am a pretty liberal guy and I love helping the underdog but I don't understand this. Should be proportionally extra to everybody I would think.

The don't want to give them more and are working on it. Problem is they don't have the tech to be able to determine who makes what and the difference they are suppose to get to make them whole in a timely manor. Thus, they are sending the money anyway.

This is because of Bernie Sanders, who I support. As usual, he puts the common people above corporations. Bless him. Even if you do not support him, he makes some excellent points in his speech below.
