Not trying to be disrespectful at all to the homeless, its just very hard to imagine how many of them feel life is at all worth living given their everyday circumstances as it is.

IMHO probably the isolated elderly pose a greater suicide risk.

The homeless have a suicide rate of 9 times the general population which would include the isolated elderly. You are going to have horrific withdrawals that will end in suicide. Very few people are going to be charitable to them with current conditions.

I would think the economic fallout would just increase the population of homeless

I really don't like this sentiment. I don't even want to think about the struggle most of us will be dealing with. Unless we magically make debt disappear, just about all of us will suffer setbacks.

Most of us are making an effort. That's what I care about. Make an effort. The homeless don't make an effort.
That's what pisses me off.
Even when I was making bad choices I was making an effort.

I can only imagine how much more violent and the desperate the homeless will get with no tourists to give them money. This is a really scary time. We are not a normal city anymore. As long as this goes on, it's a survival of the strong. It's just how it is.

I’m with EA on this one. Nobody wants to say it, but everyone is thinking it except the most bleeding hearts. Everyone can’t wait to say how much they care about the homeless. Screw the homeless! 90% of them are completely worthless human trash. The other 10% will find a way out, because they aren’t drug addicted losers who do nothing but mooch. True or false: the world would be better off without homeless people littering the streets everywhere. TRUE. You can’t deny it, they contribute nothing and only take.

I’m all for the survival of the strong. That’s how nature intended it and there’s nothing wrong with nature. We go out of our way because of technology to keep everyone just barely hanging on, and it has a massive detrimental effect on the planet with overpopulation and crowding, the destruction of nature and natural resources, all so that the absolute weakest and most pathetic creatures can cling to life in direct defiance of Darwin. If we could - without negative consequences - keep everyone alive that would be fantastic, that would be ideal. I’m all for that utopian ideal! But in reality there are consequences to an obsession with the weakest members of society because they create a massive drain on resources.

I view it differently...
I admire their resiliency and survival skills, they have an uncanny ability to survive outdoors, without benefit of shelter, electricity or running water, I consider that an amazing example of exceptional ingenuity and strength, traits which will put them in a position to survive, despite the stigmatization and lack of respect demonstrated by the general public.
The implications (as they relate to future events) should be self-evident.

You make it seem as if these people are getting by entirely on their own...they are not.
