However, in Las Vegas in July 2014 I was messed up on Ambien and ended up wandering into my neighbor's house (they had left the front door open). I was arrested for "burglary," "attempted burglary," and "trespass". There was of course no evidence that I had any intention of committing burglary and according to the Clark County records were subject to a disposition of "DA denial". I pled guilty to "trespass" and that's in the record, too. I feel that my conviction in this matter was justified as having an Ambien zombie wander into your house had to be rather terrifying. The "burglary" thing was just the cops misunderstanding what was going on, and both the cops and the DA came around to this.

In summer of 2015, I tried to move into a weekly (I think it was Budget Suites) but was denied because FELONY showed up on whatever ****ty background check thingy they used, even though the felony charges were dropped. This week I ran two paid background checks on myself (GoodHire and another one, can't remember the name but it was very detailed and included a minor misdemeanor from 2001) and... nothing showed up, even though I specified Clark County. But everything shows up on an online search of Clark County records, which is free, including the charges that were dropped, so...

I am really really confused about my status. I would like to stay in a weekly to get started but I imagine they just lazily (and cheaply) search the Clark County records available for free online, and I would get bounced like when I tried to stay in Budget Suites in 2015? If I got my record sealed (says it takes 6 months) would everything still show up on the Clark Country records free online search?

Are there any weeklies/monthlies that don't background check? Absolute worst case scenario I could just live at Extended Stay America until the time it takes to get the record sealed (I checked, it would be about two grand a month... not ideal, but affordable) as I've stayed there many times over the past few years and they definitely don't background check.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Oh and I haven't touched Ambien since then haha. And I hope I don't sound too whiny here; I'm well aware that most people with criminal records of any kind are in much worse shape than this.
These are the exact charges our adult child accumulated in a different State. There was no proof he entered the house. The story the victim told was so bizarre even the Cop didn't believe him since it would be impossible. Nothing was stolen and there was never a thought by anyone, including the victims, that was the case. He's doing great now and ready to go back to work, his former employer may accept him back this week.

Did you go through A Diversion Program? If so,I'd contact the Judge and remind him he still hasn't dropped the charges as they are still showing up upon a County search.

If you were convicted of a felony I don't know if you can get an expungement. I believe in California you can't but you are in Nevada with different state laws. Check with an attorney.

The reason they showed up in one place and not the other is probably time. There is a limit that most background checks go.

There used to be a law that limited background checks to 7 years. Though it has been changed, most of the companies still follow this as a guideline and in fact many of the companies charge more to go back further. So the party requesting the background check often just gets the cheapest package.

Many on here will say I am wrong, but in fact they are wrong. I know what I am talking about on this quite well in fact.

Don't give up and keep trying. You can become a good standing member of society. Have faith. Hoping the best for you.

You may also want to check to see if you lost your 2nd amendment rights as far as Federal law goes as there is a database they keep that if you are a convicted of a felony you cannot own or posses a firearm.
