I wouldn't put it in the front yard. I have some in the back because mowing around the cool deck was a pain.

I disagree. Once it dries on there, it's a total pain to rake it off.

I meant pre-dried dog poop.

What do you do, put it in the dryer first?

For a small patch, surrounded by desert landscaping, artificial turf works. I have seen people do their entire front lawns with it, and it doesn't look very nice (IMHO). Beats mowing and paying for water though.

I've heard the exact opposite. The urine gets caught underneath the grass and causes a smell you can't get rid of... not even with a hose.

The M Casino has some as you enter from their west parking lot... I think it looks completely fake and I know they used the "good" stuff.

When we had ours put in, we paid extra for the one that came with a base made up of tiny little balls that drain liquids away from the artificial turf. It's been out there for five years and smells fine. I'm told there are also enzymatic cleaners that you are supposed to use annually, but we never have.

My in-laws went cheap on theirs and ended up having it removed because it smelled of dog pee.
