[quote=Swigchow;12175307]What would be the disparity of the NV Energy bill between Summer and Winter months? If it is about 55$/month now, how much higher would it be in Summer? quote]

Our summer bills for a 1100 sq ft town home hit $200/month. So far our winter bills are about $70. This is keeping the thermostat at 79 degrees in the summer and about 73 degrees in the winter, but our heating is gas.

StevenK is right! It should be regulated and overseen by the government to avoid the ripoff of us all. After all, in this country the electrical wirings are put up on top of poles rather than underground ( which most countries have), thus much cheaper for the energy provider but more dangerous for us all.
Just look at your water bill, how it`s rising from year to year....

The energy market should be the next project to have reformed after healthcare. Hopefully our politicians will get onto it.

Are there any other providers in this city for electric, gas, water? Nope. It all seems like a monopoly to me and where is the intervention?

They just got a huge increase this past summer.

It's time to say no. With our unemployment so high and people leaving the state, we can't afford whatever it is they want the money for. The times of rampant growth are over and they need to just tighten up their belts like the rest of us have had to do.

I wish I could afford solar. It makes a lot of sense to me. I looked into it and after tax credits, etc, it would cost about 20K. Tax credits are all well and good but to make it affordable, I need the money taken off the cost of the system.

Is it cheaper to do wind power and can you put up a windmill in your backyard?

This is a resurrected necro-thread. It's referring to this past summer's rate increase.
