I had a similar problem when I lived in CA. One of my less-than-considerate neighbors had a habit of parking their cars in front of my house, but rarely in front of theirs. It got to the point where we had to put our trash cans there way early just to insure we would have a space for them on trash day.

I tried to drop some not-so-subtle hints, but nothing changed. After a while, I noticed my sprinklers were no longer adjusted properly. Coincidentally, they always seemed to run whenever their freshly-washed car was parked there. Eventually, the problem went away.

This morning there were 8 cars parked 2 rows across but they left within 1 hr or so, I think it is a car club and they were all going to ride together, right now no cars/peaceful and quiet. But when it is all over I am sure they will be back for the party tonight!!!

God I feel like gladys the nosy neighbor!!

Since you aren't in an HOA, i would definitely do what Olecapt suggested. It's either that or try to live with it. I hope it gets resolved.

If any city in this country should police unwarranted noise it's Las Vegas.

I'm sure it would never occur to these people working on their cars in your neighborhood that there may be a night shift worker in close vicinity to them, who, like myself, sleeps from 9am to 5pm.

During their pauses, they may look around, see a deserted street, they may see other neighbors get into their cars in the morning and speed off to work, not seeing the neighbor who drove to their house after working all night at a casino and who's fighting to get some sleep.

This is a 24-hour city. That doesn't even register with the police here.
What's this crap! Can't do anything until after 10pm! In a city like this?????
Perhaps, if you're lucky, you might find a policeman who understands the plight of someone working nights.

I vote for taking them a beer and just chatting... see what their doing, car stuff is actually sort of intresting :-) you might find you like it.

on the plus side if you get in good with the neighbor at least they might tone it down in the evenings... from your posts it doesnt sound like you have even said hi to them let alone talked to them.

This sounds like my type of guy. I know many people like this. If you don't live in a HOA, you really don't have a leg to stand on with working on cars all day. If it's late, or he is purposely being noisey, then you should walk over there and see what's going on.

I would try sending a letter w/ no return address asking him to please keep it down at night.

Think about it, you could be ruining someone's only source of income if it's his business just so you don't have to hear some noise...
