My brother-in-law and I are thinking of relocating our families to Las Vegas. I know, you have probably heard this a thousand times. My parents already have a house in the Southern Highlands area and we were thinking of finding a place around there also. We are both journeyman electricians and both his wife and my fiance are in nursing school.

For employment, I've done a search in the yellow pages for electrical contractors, but there are many to choose from. Can any of you provide a list of reputable contractors, and whether they are union or non-union? Thanks.

-Justin

I remodeled a home about a year and a half ago and it needed some electrical work. My Realtor Robert Adams 702-349-9175 referred me to Star Electric. The owner of Star Electric's name is Jessie 702-275-0563

Thanks for those two, Red and Joe! Although, Joe, I searched for 'Star Electric' but only found 'North Star Electric' owned by Susan Miller.

I today sent my resume to Ron over at Ideal Services. I have never relocated before and I hope one of these electrical contractors will give me a shot, even though I'm not from the area. Am I supposed to find a job first, and then move there? Or is it the other way around?

Thanks, Justin

The obvious choice is to have the job in the bag for your own peace of mind.

You will find on this forum that some feel a local address and maybe a local drivers license is essential to be taken seriously by an employer. Others disagree. My wife spent 6 months finding full time work even though we made the move without a job in the bag. I am retired.

I say put yourself in the employers place. You wanna hire someone who is here and ready to start or someone who needs time to make a move before going to work?

It is odd that you can't find Star Electric. ry calling Jessie directly at the # above and see if he has another name you can look up. Maybe I am wrong about the name. Sorry.
