I am from Minnesota and am looking at buying a condo in Las Vegas for investment/recreation since it looks like you can get such great deals now. We will be there May 12-15th to look around. My plan is to buy something very inexpensive to use as a vacation place to come out to a few times a year I do not plan on renting it out. I would ideally like to be somewhat close to the strip < 20 min away. My ideal place would also have some sort of visual appeal such as a view of the mountains or the pool We don't need or want anything high end but if we decide we want to move up in 5 years I want something that would not be too hard to sell..

I would prefer a 2 bedroom Condo, gated area a plus (Like Canyon Willow east) We would keep a car so a garage would be a plus but if it is safe I wouldn’t mind leaving a car under a carport.

I would prefer not to finance so would like to stay < $70K I have heard that it is best to not buy conversion condos.

So with all the above requirements does anyone know of developments they could recommend that have units in my price range?

Thanks for your help!

PS. Is it best to get a real estate agent or to try to look around on your own?

I would vote for having an agent. Many times they will know little specks of local info that could be hard to glean otherwise. Some homes in gated communities can be found for a little more.

Welcome part time and Good Luck.
