What happened to the $200 round trip flights to and from the east coast? We have SWAL Rapid Rewards and almost never pay for airline tickets. You should ask about it.

Anyway, you need another day or two to see the Grand Canyon unless you take one of the sight seeing flights. Like Teddy Roosevelt said, every American should see the Grand Canyon, so I'd come to see the Big Ditch, and secondarily visit Las Vegas on the way. But that's just me.

If you have a rental car and little time, but still want to see one of the most beautiful places on earth after the Grand Canyon, you can drive up to Zion National Park in 3 to 3½ hours. It's well worth the trip. Go early and have a fantastic breakfast at the Bear Paw Coffee Company in St. George, UT. After visiting Zion have dinner at the Bit and Spur in Springdale, UT. You'll be bragging about it for years. You may have to park in Springdale and take the park shuttle. Not sure when it begins operation for the summer.
