I agree your safest path to work is the bus. No way would I ride a bike or a moped on Charleston at night.

Vegas is very car centric. You have to have a car to LIVE here. But your job is only for a couple more months and then you will be moving on. I understand why you don't want to buy a car.

Anyone who tells you to ride a moped in Vegas is either Glen Lerner or one of the hundreds of other blood sucking attorneys that practically fill 50% of air time on every TV station.

Incorrect . . a drivers license is required! Where traffic is compatible with the 30 mph moped speed limitation, and the calculated injury risk is acceptable, the 50cc China scooters are a relatively inexpensive form of transportation. There are numerous Craigslist used scooter listings, and ignition system components are available locally . . which is usually the most common deficiency, other than valve lash adjustment and carb cleaning.

A 150cc scooter, which has a top speed of around 55 mph (reduced by headwind and hills), is much more compatible with arterial (but not freeway) traffic. Training resource.

That is simply not true. When I got my dui 5 years ago in which my DL got suspended my plan was to get a moped temporarily. I called the DMV and they said that you will be arrested and jailed for a mandatory minimum 30 days for driving any motorized vehicle on public roads.

Straight from the Nevada DMV:

"You must have a Class C or higher driver license to drive a moped or motorized bicycle on a public street. You do not need a Class M license. Mopeds do not require insurance or vehicle registration. If the moped produces more than 2 gross brake horsepower, or has a displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters (50 cc), or produces not more than 1500 watts final output, or is capable of exceeding thirty miles per hour (30 mph) on a flat grade, it is considered a motorcycle and you must have a Class M license, registration and insurance."
