Hello Everyone, I am moving my guitar parts business to Las Vegas within the next 2 months from California. We are happy to say that we have found a nice home in the Summerset Hills area.

We are opening a store for our guitar parts we manufacture. We have been looking at a possible location around LV BLVD & Gass. So how bad is that area and would a guitar & guitar parts store be good in that location?

If not, does anyone have a suggestion on a good location to get some traffic but still be able to get plenty of room for a 800 SQF store front with another 1000 in the back to manufacture?

Now seriously, is Vegas really a smart move for our type of business? We know that there are a lot of musicians and it being an entertainment Mecca, we thought it would be smart for us to move there but reading on how bad the economy is there, we are worried that we may have decided to move there too hastily.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

is it good or bad.. well it ain't great (hope you like bars on the windows)... but a HUGE plus would be that you are very close to the Pawn Stars pawn shop which might bring traffic to your store. Overall though in my opinion, it is not a good area.. The pawn shops lockup and go to window only around 8pm.... do i think you could make it there.... honestly no... if i needed parts, i would not go there.

Welcome to Las Vegas. My question is will you be keeping your California clientele? It will be tough to run a storefront operation, but not impossible. The area at LV Blvd and Gass is not the worst, certainly not the best but workable.
Best advice is to look at least 5 properties, you should be able to negotiate as low as .65/sq. ft with all the commercial space available or get a deal where you get 6-months free rent. Look for and ask for deals as they are out there in the market. I would keep 6-9 months of expenses saved up just in case things don't go well, but if you give great service it will be a moot point.

No worries on that, from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Well, if there is Pawn Shops there that buy and ultimately sell their stuff and they are surviving because they do have to sell stuff as well to make the money to loan. Then it might not be that bad as for selling stuff there. You would think. We will be open to the public from 10-7pm ourselves and pretty much 4 days a week with the production for our online store being done 5 days a week and not open to the public

Well our parts are Boutique and custom made. You would think that with all the house bands and casinos that musicians would travel to our shop to get the best they can locally. We have been a online only store for the last few years. Some of our endorsees play Vegas on the tour spots and told us that Vegas would be the best for us but if you think that N. LV Blvd is a bad spot, could you divulge more data and info? I thought it gets a lot of traffic from the main part of the strip to Fremont St. EXP mall. Does it not?

Thanks for the response. Yes, we will be keeping our internet store live. See, here in California we were not open to the public. We were just manufacturing and selling online only. Our web site gets about 70K a month of traffic from all parts of the world. Which is really why we are coming to Vegas, it is to build up manufacturing by hiring more help but at the same time offer our products to local musicians installed at our shop and giving our customers who have wished to meet us in person a chance to fly cheaply to spot where anywhere in the US you can fly cheap too.

After talking with some of our touring artists and knowing that pretty much every night of the week there is all genres of music that our shop should be a mover there. I think what I was meaning when I asked if that spot was bad is, will we be able to get some traffic to our shop with tourism as well as locals?

In your particular situation, I would suggest moving here. With an income of $70,000 a month you can pretty much live in any are of Las Vegas or Henderson that you chose.

See, I don't get it and no offense but your not making your point valid to me. I can care less about the show Pawn Stars. Before they were on TV they were there doing biz for many years there, right? So just because you don't shop there or in that area, does that mean that there is not traffic and tourism driving through that part of town from the Strip to Fremont St?

I am looking for valid answers not just something you may not like.

We have 70K people a month visiting our web site. I never mentioned dollar amounts.

We have found a place to live but we are looking for areas that will get foot traffic to the shop. Is that area an area that tourist drive through and is it easy to get there from the main part of the strip?
