I'm somewhat suspicious of the claim of a job that pays nearly 200% more in Las Vegas than in another city. I'd think the only jobs like that would be in hospitality/casino management, and sex workers. Maybe "engineer" really means "Building Engineer", or similar type of job that doesn't require an engineering degree and isn't an engineering discipline. Still, that is such a large increase that it's hard to believe.

Perhaps... either that or someone who doesn't like the courses this conversation took. I'm always thrown by people who ask when they can't bear to hear the possible answers, but that's how some folks are. Whenever I wonder about trolls in this context, I always remember that there are lots of lurkers out there who have the same sort of questions and could still use some form of reassurance and/or rebuke all the same. For me, these sort of trolls still serve some form of purpose, whereas the in-your-face type are what really makes me wonder what kind of person...

Now that you mention it, it's very bizarre to hear anyone in close relation with an engineer refer to said engineer without some specific discipline as an adjective.

Yeah, I always make sure people know my degree is in Electrical Engineering. I wouldn't want anyone to confuse me with a Mechanical Engineer. Those guys are dorks!

I think I was reactiong to the situation of the unhappy person, not vegas per say. Yes, we are considering a move to Henderson-a possible transfer. I just read so many crazy things-it scares me, we are looking for a nice family area to raise our 3 kids and hope that we can make Henderson home. What you described was great-you seem normal, defensive, but normal!! No hard feelings-just trying to get a feel for the area and to see if people really do love it!!

Best,
JUlie
