Hello,

Little background: Couple in 30s, no kids, no pets. Been to Vegas as tourists. He has 20 years bartending experience. I have an Ass. degree and 8 years design experience with civil/environmental firms, laid off now and want to go back to school at UNLV. He has No union, tam cards but could possibly get transferred from company he works at and is willing to get the cards upon relocation. I also cocktail served/bartended for a ski resort through college. I want to go to school full-time, not work if possible. Heard negative things about the bar business right now, so a little afraid that it may be tough for us while I go to school.

Want to live in a gated community with amenities, no vandalism, safety, decently priced place to start out. Don't need top of the line luxury but don't want to be disappointed either.

Nice apartment complexes to live? preferably nearby to UNLV (don't want a Summerlin commute)? How is bar biz right now, especially if you don't know anyone? Can he make a decent living while he doesn't have union cards? Any extra info. great. Been on the net for weeks doing research and getting both positive and negative reviews but I think each individual case is different. Thanks for your help.

A 2 year degree is usually referred to as an AAS degree, as opposed to an Ass. degree. But, then again, in LV, it might be more profitable to have an Ass. degree, especially when it comes to female bartending.
