I use hertz on a corporate plan. Just noted the enterprise across the lot.

YOu sure? That Enterprise is doing a whole lot of collision work which is often dirt cheap. I would be careful of how the res was made.

I believe the airport fee is 10% plus $3 per day.

if you compare the 40 a day plus tax vs 12 a day plus a few more taxes, its a no brainer.

It is however $4.20 per day if you get the same rate at both places.

Actually Enterprise opened at $9.99 per day. But then they said that offer was expired and went to 117.06 per week.

I use a mid sized so it was 158 per week. I quoted my normal Hertz on Rancho and got 174 per week. So 158 plus 16 plus 21...I would pay 195 on the Enterprise airport versus my 174 at Hertz.

I suspect the 9.99 special may be better but I would want to read the fine print.

It does save money...but be prepared to wait awhile (at both ends). I did this once and the wait was incredibly long (> 1hour) because they only have a couple of kids doing the check in. The rental center is fast and convenient, as it can handle the volume.

Some of the fees are fixed amounts, others are a percentage of the rental. So for a very inexpensive rental, taxes can be 70% or more of the daily rental. I rented a car recently for $13/day at the airport, and taxes were around $9/day, or around 70%.

CFC: $3.25/day
Rec. Surch Fee: $1.50/day
Concession Recovery Fee: 10%
Gov. Ser. Fee: 10%
CCRF: 2%
Sales Tax: 8.1%

Default Re:

I've tried paylesscar.com which offered the lowest prices.

There's a free airport shuttle to the rental centre and back. I'd recommend booking online first than going there to get the car as its likely cheaper the earlier one books.

May I add a few more suggestions - check every possible association you have for discounts. AAA, AARP, Airline/Hotel Frequent Flyer programs, Credit Unions, Entertainment Book coupons, etc. etc. Check the "hot deals" section on each rental companies' website. Finally, once you book it, keep checking on prices. They do fluctuate greatly.
