I suggest OP move to Venezuela, I hear is a progressive socialist utopia these days ....
Seriously, the amount of ultra-naive people here in the United States is astonishing. If you absolutely cannot handle living in the US then at least go to western Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc where human rights are truly respected instead of the socialist farce they present as human rights in Latin America.
I went down to Chile expecting to spend a few weeks and maybe find an English teaching job. I arrived, and soon realized that it's very expensive to live there and the wages are quite low. The only thing that allowed me to actually live and stay there as long as I did was that I had been a poker pro and made a living playing at the casino there. No way in hell would I have ever supported myself on English teacher wages there.
My girlfriend is moving to the US shortly with me, I've seen how rough Chile can be. It is a beautiful country, but the problems are still there. People are struggling much more than they are in the United States. Things might be getting better, but to think you're going to be able to immigrate to Chile with no skills is beyond crazy.. you won't even get a visa to work there.
The way you stated your question, and the low amount of information you have about any country in South America leads me to believe you do not have any true skills that'd make you good money or an asset to the country. In other words, you're going to be setting yourself up for failure if you think you can just pack your bags and make a nice living in Chile.
If you're serious about going there, learn Spanish.. fluently. Don't speak like a tourist who thinks they're cool by being able to spout off 10 sentences with a terrible accent. Learn the country and culture, then decide if you want to live there. Get a degree in engineering and get to the mines. That's where the money is.
I lived/studied in South America for half a year, I speak fluent Spanish and really liked the life and atmosphere there. However, in terms of living there, I wouldn't live alone, since I would be lonely and far away from family.
I´m sorry to say you´re so wrong about Argentina. Giving rights to trans, or approving gay marriage were all populists measures in order to gain voters. No human rights over here. Murder rates as never seen before. Convicyed fellons are set free, criminals in jail collect wages as twice as higher as a regular salary. Try another country. This Stalinist dictatorship follows Venezuela´s path.
