Hi guys, I was just wondering if this is possible? From my understanding, for one to be able to get his girlfriend to also come to the US, he has to be a US citizen first so he can make a petition to do so which I think is the fiancee' visa petition. But in order for a permanent resident to apply to become a US citizen, he has to wait for 5 years if I remember it correctly.

I don't to get mushy on this topic but I really just want to know the possibility of my girlfriend living with me (as a married couple in the future) in the US.
So if anyone who has experienced this, or anyone knowledgeable about this, your suggestions/comments are much appreciated. Thanks!

As a permanent resident alien you can apply for the same status for your spouse. This and the related links contained in it may be of help:

which is faster?

1. me, a permanent resident applying for my spouse (to be married in the Philippines) to be a permanent resident also or

2. me, becoming a US citizen then apply for a fiancee visa with my girlfriend?

CR1 or K1 depends on your personal preferences. You can file and adjust staus after your naturalization.

I've read that you can adjust the status upon becoming a US citizen. so the best thing to do is to marry my girlfriend while I'm a permanent resident then when I am a US citizen, file for that adjustment. and is there a guarantee that my spouse will be given a visa? I read that such spouses married to US citizens don't have to wait because an alien number is readily available for them (prioritized). will this apply if I do the one above? or just wait to be a US citizen then marry my girlfriend?

There is no guarantee for anything in life! CR1 currently takes 9-12 months given that everything is in order.

No one can tell you what do do. It is up to you and the young lady.
