Hi there!

I am starting my residency at LV hospital in Allentown this June. I know I should avoid certain parts of the town, then again, I don't know everything about it. So I was wondering if anyone knows anything specific about the following areas/apt complexes. You can message me if you don't feel like reply it here. Greatly appreciate it.

- Allen Gardens
- The Lakes
- Whitestone village, south Allentown, near Robert Rodale reserve
- Tremont Gardens
- Society Hills
- Riverbend, east Allentown
- Lancaster Park
- Whispering Hills
- South Mountain

I dont know the specifics about the places you've listed. If you use LVH Cedar Crest as the starting point, generally the best neighborhoods are to the North, South, and West. Avoid the East as this takes you to downtown Allentown.

I assume you will be at the main location on Cedar Crest. If you will be working on the hospital on 17th street amend your post.

Generally you want to avoid the 18101 and 18102 zip codes where most of the violent crime happens. All but one of these properties are in 18103 and 18104 zip

South Mountain, Whitestone Village & Whispering Hills are next to each other and within the city limits of Allentown, but only a block from the borough of Emmaus (south of I78). It's about 2.5 miles from the hospital. Very safe.

From safety and convenience to work, these three apartments are probably the best. There is no bus service to the hospital but you can probably walk it in an hour if your car is being repaired.

Allen Gardens is within walking distance of the 18102 zip code. It's much closer to inner city, but a good location if you are working at the 17th street hospital.

The Lakes are in a good area off Cedar Crest Blvd.

Tremont Gardens is between 23rd and 24th in West End of Allentown. It's more urban but near Muhlenberg University. I would live there.

Lancaster Park is in a South Allentown 'hood, and would be safe.

Riverbend is in the 18102 zip code. It's quite new but you can find stories of crack dealers being arrested within a few blocks of this place. You can think of it as a gentrified area.

The apartments closest to the Hospital Complex (busy streets, but you can walk) are:
Madison at Cedar Glen
1166 South Cedar Crest Blvd |
Allentown, PA 18103
(610) 537-5158
