Can anyone tell me about Orefield and surrounding areas that are are "small"

Orefield is more of an area then a town. It's just an area northwest of Allentown with houses and a couple of convenience stores. Most people drive through it on the way to the nearby community college or drive-in movie without ever seeing it. It is in Parkland school district though, which means good schools. Several housing developments but no real town.

No one really goes to downtown Allentown for shopping. You would go to west Allentown for groceries at Wegmans
Wegmans - Bing Local on Tilghman or Weis-Kings on Hamilton and Cedar Crest. For clothes you would go to Whitehall where there's a nice large mall plus Kohl's, Best Buy, etc. and there's a Target just north of Allentown, east of Orefield. You can take main roads or back roads to get to any of them. All of these places are within 15 minutes or less. Schools are very good.
