We're having trouble finding someone to take over our lease for an apartment on UK campus ($650 2BR/1BA, Oct. rent paid & we'd transfer our deposit). I've tried Craigslist, as that's what most people have recommended, and barely had any response.

What's the best way to go about advertising this? We don't really want to shell out a ton of money on finding someone.

Thanks!

That is a good idea, they actually charge more than the herald leader for their classifieds, so i'm struggling between the two.

Well, I don't know if this will help you, but most people try to use an ad to sell the deal. An ad should be used to make your phone ring. Once you get a call, THEN you can sell the deal. You may just want to put something like "Take over my lease and KEEP my deposit. Great price on 2 bedroom Campus apartment." Then, you can fill them in on the details when prospects call.

Try craigslist again. A realtor buddy of mine has had the most luck with the stupidest ads. If you have a roommate, or more than one e-mail address, you can get around the re-posting within 45 days thing. If possible, post it everyday.

I don't know how many people use it, but kajeje.com is like craigslist. It is free, so all it costs is time. You can go to postlets.com and make a flyer that you can put in the ads too!
