Go to the Lexington Clinic at UK to the sports medicine department...(in the main door on the left down a few steps) and see Dr. Johnson. He is great and is UK's sports medicine doc for the football team as well as the basketball team. He has done plenty of knee operations and is thought of highly. Dr. Ireland is another excellent choice off of alumni Drive. Google her. She has a great reputation as well. Dr. William Kibler is probably the best out of them all. He is in the lexington clinic at UK as well and is sought after by pro athletes all over the country (Joe Montana, etc). He is considered one of the best in the nation so you couldn't go wrong with him. He travels a lot for speeches and seeing these athletes so I don't know his schedule but you certainly couldn't go wrong with him or any of the mentioned Dr.'s I hope that helps a bit.
May I clarify one thing? The Lexington Clinic is not associated with UK in any way. The clinic at UK is Kentucky Clinic. I second Dr. Johnson and Kibler but would personally not go to Ireland. Another good ortho is Dr. Bray with Lexington Orthopedic Associates. Lexington Clinic has a good ortho guy too but I can't think of his name. If I do I'll add it.
Lexingtongal..you are certainly correct...forgive my mistake it was the end of a long day. I was mentioning the Kentucky Clinic not the Lexington Clinic. Sorry about the confusion.
Ortho Assoc gets a vote from me as well. Previous poster is correct about Kibler. While he will do other joints, his specialty is shoulders. Ellingsen and some of the docs at Bluegrass Ortho are well respected. Jeff Parr also does a good job with knees.
How do you get bluegrass orth to return your calls? I've been trying for two weeks cant get an answer from them.
