Why would anyone want to live in Brooklyn? Oh, you must mean that part of Brooklyn that is Brooklyn in name only...Brooklyn Heights etc....that's nothing more than an extension of Manhattan with all the effete liberal snobbiness that comes with it.

Long Island doesn't really have any real "beach towns". Long Beach might be the closest thing to it. Not the greatest commute to Farmingdale.

Agree with others about Babylon, and at least it is only a short drive to the beach. But my first choice would be Huntington based on what you are looking for - good luck!

Default hmm

Babylon village is great if you can afford it. Babylon village can be considered a beach town.

Down the road you have venetian shores with the beach hut and everything (live music and a small bar on the water ).

For those who may not know, Venetian Shores is in the extreme southwest part of the Hamlet of West Babylon that has a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address.

Hi!

I might be the perfect person to talk with because I am from Long Island and lived in Boston the past 4 years. I was a BU student who lived in Brookline by Kenmore Sq. I am also familiar with Charlestown.

If I were you, I would consider Huntington Village. You will LOVE it there. One of my favorite places. It has a small town area with shopping, restaurants, bars etc. Very clean and that "boston" feel. It is not a far ride at all to the beaches on the south shore. It is also a very safe, clean, and beautiful town. Many historic looking homes like you would see in Boston.

Secondly, I would consider northport area. Right next to huntington.

Thirdly, check out babylon village.

All three of these areas are close to Farmingdale.

Good Luck!

I agree with Babylon Village. Great location if you work in Farmingdale for the commute. Babylon Village you’ll be in the heart of many great restaurants, bars and great shops. You would be close to the Long Island railroad Babylon station that you could take the train to NYC or JFK airport. You would be close to the Robert Moses Parkway which you can drive just minutes down to the beaches.

It is a great place for 30 somethings.

Good luck with your move.
