I think I may need to set up a car donation fund...
MTA Cuts May Gut L.I. Bus Service - wcbstv.com (http://wcbstv.com/topstories/nassau.bus.service.2.1814211.html - broken link)

Great job Ed Mangano and the Nassau legislature, all that money from taxes and those red light cameras and you dont want to pony up 40 Mil to run LI Bus.
Maybe its finally time to get out of here.

Yeah, how does Suffolk pull their own and charges riders less?

Yes they are. I'm glad at least you enjoy my posts. Most other ppl here dont give a damn about LI and would rather see it become an urban wasteland.
Then when the buses get cut and they cant get help in the stores or their lawns mowed they'll be crying. I'm sick of it, I really am.
The attitute toward public transportation here is one of the worst in the country, and wont miss it when I'm gone.
And while coming from an unlikely source, it is exactly why LI Bus is treated the way it is because mostly day laborers ride it. If the MTA was planning on shutting down the LIRR it would never happen, but because LIB's ridership is mostly non-white the county has no problem with letting it decay. Now that is racism.
Ed Mangano and the County Leg. should just show their true colors and wear those white hats everyday to work.
Illegal or not, these people are paying passengers and dont deserve to be treated like garbage by the MTA and Nassau County in their stupid games.
Thats the one rare time you'll see me defend illegal immigrants. Though a large percetage of LIB riders are poorer and other minorities (here legally) as well, the county could still care less about them.
Too bad one of those low flying jumbo jets cant crash in Mineola and take all the bums out in one swoop!

Better managed county government! Nassau County has been run into the ground by our government, Gulotta, Suozzi, Mangano, they are all jokers who keep protecting the elite and letting the govt workers (esp cops) rake it in year after year.
NCPD is a very desirable job because there's such high pay with less than half the work of most departments like those in the city. And they just got a raise. Thank Ed!
Levy made everyone sacrifice and when SCPD wouldn't do it for less he let Sherrif's deputies patrol at half the cost to taxpayers!

Long Islanders just have no use for mass transit. I remember in my twenties when heading out to The City my friends would always frown about someone suggesting taking the railroad. I live in the boonies today but if the bus and train systems on Long Island were better served I would use them and give my car a rest. But who wants to rely on a system that runs once an hour?

I heard from a NY officer that NCPD has a better union than the NYPD, that's why they make more. I too feel it's unfair. NYPD has a far more difficult and dangerous job. They should be one of the highest paid police force in the country.

This is just dammed funny when you think of it. There is one photo of RM at a toll both (one of his of course) paying a toll. It was completely posed. Never drove, not once, yet he hated public transit. (Even when the LIRR was a private entity)
