How to get tax rates in Suffolk Co? (New York, Brookhaven: real estate, home)

Hi.
I decided to stay on Long Island and will be starting the process of home buying. I am very familiar with the real estate in Florida, and how easy it is to pull records online (for free) regarding tax rates. How do you go about getting specific tax rates in Suffolk Co?

I decided to try and find a "fixer-upper" for $250k-ish and am very concerned with tax rates.

Please help as I am a little lost on where to start.

Unfortunately for you, unlike Nassau County, in Suffolk County taxes are assessed and collected by each individual Town and there are ten; here are the links to each of their websites.

Suffolk County, New York
List of towns in Suffolk County

Town of Babylon
Town of Brookhaven
Town of East Hampton
Town of Huntington
Town of Islip
Town of Riverhead
Town of Shelter Island
Town of Smithtown
Town of Southampton
Town of Southold


Most sites will not give you the information you're looking for - you'll have to call the department of the "Receiver of Taxes" in that particular Town for it... or ask your friendly Realtor
BTW, the Town of Huntington website will give you access to the taxes levied on all residential properties.
