I would visit florida for a week but never live there. I love the hot weather and I can find other places to live besides Florida. I like Arizona alot.

There are pros and cons to both Long Island and Florida.
Florida is a very big state, as the saying goes "Do you want to live in transient northeast retiree Florida?, Do you want to live in Disney Florida?, Do you want to live in Alabama/Georgia Florida?, Do you want to live in NASA Florida?, Do you want to live in Cuban Florida?"
My co-worker moved from Tampa to New York and would never go back to Florida after moving. My classmate moved from New York to Orlando and absolutely loves Orlando. It's all about preference for the most part.
While Florida does have warm weather and nice beaches, I find it funny how so many Long Islanders move to the sunbelt states if they want to get out of Long Island. There are 49 other states out there, not just Florida. IMO western states, e.g. Colorado, Oregon, California, Washington, offer the best quality of life. All of those states except California have lower taxes, lower cost of living, more laid back lifestyle, and nicer scenery. Yet, they are just as sophisticated as New York.
