The Village of Port Jefferson has a different border than does the "Port Jefferson, NY 11777" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Port Jefferson, NY 11777" mailing address and not be in the Village of Port Jefferson and a place can have other than a "Port Jefferson, NY 11777" mailing address and be in the Village of Port Jefferson): places that have a "Port Jefferson, NY 11777" mailing address that are not in the Village of Port Jefferson are in the Village of Belle Terre and the Hamlet of Setauket-East Setauket; and, at the same time, there are places in the Village of Port Jefferson with a "Mount Sinai, NY 11766" and a "Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776" mailing address.

This is so NorthEast Suffolkian its sickening. You don't hear anyone on the Long Island Riviera discussing the differnce between a couple of blocks being good or bad.

For those unfamiliar with Terryvile, and its rather unique geography ...

A map of the Hamlet of Terryville in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County:

Terryville is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name in their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of Terryville have a "Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776", "Coram, NY 11727" and "Selden, NY 11784" mailing address.

You would have an occasional odd character with a shopping cart over by the Bowling Alley/where Woolworths used to be.
now
You are talking about good old Pops who has been there since my son who is now almost 40 was a baby.
Not only is he not an illegal alien , I believe that he is an heir to the Bohacks (supermarket) fortune.
(That is , if there is a Bohacks fortune anymore) . God only knows how old he must be.

The way I see it, all of long Island is a dumping ground. As I said in other posts the only ones that will be left are the "politicians, & the immigrants" oh excuse me i was corrected once before it should be the "ILLEGALS"
