Your best bet is to shop around all the major companies, they are all willing to negotiate to get your business but each may cater to a different background. Very easy to just file your numbers online and see what they have to offer.
Also take a defensive driving course online if you haven't already for a decent discount.
Have to agree with I Love LI. We switched from Liberty Mutual two years ago and after shopping three cars,a house and a million dollar umbrella State Farm was by far the best. Progressive was close but I would never give my business to that lefty Peter Lewis.
I had the opposite, originally with Nationwide, they were killing me on the rate, went over to State Farm - much better even with home insurance still couldn't beat Geico's rate, I dropped State Farm for auto, kept home - it'd be nice to have a nice package deal, but State Farm kept jacking up the auto to the point where Geico is the much better deal.
Auto in NY is a racket, but auto in NYC is way worse. To the OP, I'm thinking either you want high liability/collision coverage, lots of bells and whistles or you are moving to a more populous area of the Island where there have been a rash of auto related car thefts. I think the Civic is one of the most popular cars to "boost'.
I am with Geico and my premium is 1,031 for 2 cars every 6 months. 300/300, Full glass and comprehensive and collision 1000 ded...
This thread inspired me to look other places.. I checked 21st century and the rate for similar coverage was 868 for 6 months and then I checked travelers which was 749.00 for 6 months.. coverage was 250/500 instead of 300/300 -- they arent apples to apples exactly.
I did...thats the reason Im posting here. I had GEICO when I lived in NY (for years and years) They quoted me $1200/6 mo.
Full coll/comp on Civic only. Thats insane. Hense the reason Id like to get suggestions.
Who do you currently have for car insurance? If they write policies in NY, maybe you can stick with them and they won't bump you up so much in price since you said you have no accidents, tickets, good credit, etc.

I'm paying Liberty Mutual 1,150/year for full collision for two cars ('01 and '06) per year, 250/250 coverage, 500 deductible. Was paying almost 1,500 w/ geico for same coverage.
Yes progressive (in the past) was the only insurance for young drivers or drivers who had a bad record (speeding, accidents etc)
Im with Geico and Im at around 1400 per year full coverage 500 deductible for 3 cars.
Ive been with them for 10 years though
I wish I could pay $1400. Is that for full coverage on any of the cars? I pay that ever 6months for 2 cars but then again the wife just started driving so that is killing me.
We have Traveler's Insurance but I also have them for my homeowners insurance and ring insurance.
We own the following cars:
2008 Acura TL (full coverage 100/300, full glass coverage and $500 Deductible)
2008 Honda Pilot (full coverage 100/300, full glass coverage and $500 deductible)
1992 Honda Accord (basic insurance)
We pay $2,014 per year for car insurance only.
ETA: I forgot to add, we are both 37 (male and female), and have credit score ratings in the 800's and also have no tickets or accidents on our records and that is with defensive driving as well.
