Oftentimes, the MLSLI.com lists a place's location by the community named in that place's mailing address, which is, more often than not, different from the city, village or hamlet where that place is actually located.

You can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) a place is actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that place's mailing address, by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP or Census Designated Place is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)

And, among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.

IMHO don't do it. Under 300K houses in Nassau will probably require work. Why downsize AND pay more taxes. Stay in DE and enjoy your the benefits of a bigger and less expensive home. Your wallet will thank you.

It's very expensive to Live on LI. Plainview especially. Taxes can average anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000 in Nassau county. I live in suffolk and pay 6500 in taxes for a 2 bedroom ranch that is only 840 Sq ft. $300,00 is your budget? Good luck finding a home in a nice neighborhood on LI for that price. Will your husband get a pay raise? Personally I would stay in delaware. I was thinking of moving out of LI to go there at one point but we changed our minds due to us not having family there. Does he have to relocate?
