It's strange. You can substitute the words "Jew" and Jewish" with anything but "White" and not be considered racist. Seriously.
"We're Jewish and while I would prefer one of the Jewish districts..."
"We're Asian and while I would prefer one of the Asian districts..."
"We're African American and while I would prefer one of the African American districts..."
(You can use "Black" on that one too if you prefer)
"We're Mexican and while I prefer one of the Mexican districts..."
"We're WHITE and while I would prefer one of the WHITE districts..."
Umm, excuse me??
You have a problem living with (Fill in the blank) whitey???
Sorry for the derail, I found it interesting.
(Note: I assume the OP is intelligent enough to realize i'm not accusing them of being racist. Thought I'd mention it because you never know).
I agree. Thanks for putting the same thoughts I had when reading the OP into eloquent words. I dont understand why people continue to seek living among their own kind..this is why true diversity in Long Island will never be achieved.

With numbers, there is safety.
Even for secular, non-observant Jews, being the only one or two families in a community can mean trouble, the least of which is Jewish kids being picked on in school.
For Torah observant Jews, being within walking distance of a shul or synagogue in order to attend Shabbat and Yom Tov services, let alone having a neighborhood kosher butcher and a supermarket that sells Jewish ethic foods, requires being in a community with a sizable Jewish population.
Hi everyone, sorry I know this is slightly OT but I recently converted to the Aztec religion and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not there are any other Aztec children in the Roslyn SD? We were originally looking in Tenochtitlan but didn't feel the housing stock was very modern or up to our standards. Don't have a problem with mixed neighborhoods but we still want to live somewhere that our children will be able to walk to the local pyramid to worship the serpent gods. Are there any supermarkets in Roslyn that sell corn maize blessed by the high priests? Of course it goes without saying that we also need to live in a community where there are plenty of people willing to offer themselves up for human sacrifice and/or bodily mutilation in order to appease Quetzalcoatal and prevent the world from ending.
^why would they want to go out to stonybrook or commack if they've been looking in nassau? I don't get the irrelevancy and non answers on here sometimes.
They asked for North Shore.Last time I looked, Stony Brook and Commack were on the north (not south) shore. If they wanted only Nassau they might have said so. Also, just because someone is looking in nassau doesn't mean they aren't open to further east. Remember, north shore was the stipulation!
they actually asked for the ns sd which doesn't comprise any areas except glen head, sea cliff and glenwood landing
Actually, the North Shore Central School District is a bit larger than that and includes all or part of the Village of Sea Cliff, the Hamlet of Glen Head, the Village of Old Brookville, the Hamlet of Greenvale, the Village of Roslyn Harbor and the Hamlet of Glenwood Landing.

I was refering to "North Shore School District" not the "North Shore as a whole".

The title of the thread is "North Shore School District-Questions"

Thanks a lot!
I'm not against diversity but we dont want to be the only Jew in town. I've been there and its not fun. Pie in the sky liberalism, we are the world, all you want but back down on earth I'll stick with a place where my kid doesnt have to be the only one taking off for the high holidays or being asked why he wont eat ham and then being made fun of.
