Hello again, i'm asking this on behalf of my Friend. My Friend's parents are retiring in Florida and giving her their house. Their house is in a pretty bad area and her, as a single female living alone, has to take extra precautions against possible burglars and the such.
1. What can she do to make her house burglar-proof? Is that even possible?
2. Her house has sliding doors, how much would it cost to enclose that huge opening into just one door?
3. What security agency is the best? How effective are they? What are your experiences with them?
4. How effective are "Security doors"? What about those bars on the windows?
5. Any other recommendations to keep out possible burglars?
1-electric fence
2-2k
3-adt, or slomins
4-none, windows are weaker point, a door is only as strong as the hinge, frame, and where/how its bolted to the house.
5- GUN only way
Gosh, if the neighborhood is that bad, she really should not be living there.
She really doesn't have much options, her parents planned on selling the house but the way the market is going they realized they might as well keep it, the house also needs some repairs and that would make resale value really low if it is lucky to even be sold. She broke up with her boyfriend she's been living with for the past few months and her job isn't that great so she needs a place.
Her neighborhood isn't extremely bad, it's just that her as a young woman living alone makes her a far bigger target so she has to take extra precautions
So they are GIVING her the house but it's not economically feasible for HER to sell it? Even if she only made $100K on it (unlikely it would go for anywhere near that low) she comes out ahead. Or are they not really GIVING her the house, but they are telling her she can live in it, and she doesn't really want to but feels she has to?
Did she grow up in that house? How old is she? Has she been gone a long time? Has the neighborhood really changed that much that now she feels she needs bars on the windows? Where is she living that is much better?
