No roosevelt field was a air field till around 1935 and then the race track until sometime in the late 60's early 70's, it kept the name as did the mall when it was built, the mall is called roosevelt field because that was the field and the tracks name.

Duh!! people are so clueless to anything , you have no idea of any history of anything here do you...
You have no idea of what went on there, you think it was a mall duh!!

What are you talking about here.

Roosevelt Raceway and Roosevelt mall were and always were two separate entities.

The "Mall" was built in 1956 and the race track was built in 1940.

The field was originally called Curtiss Field and later change after in honor of Theodore Roosevelt's son Quentin, who died in W.W. I.

The track officially closed 1988, a very sad day indeed

But it was an old air field worthy of being destroyed like the old Gold Coast mansions.
