I'm going to name some near me in no particular order and why (this is just my opinion, not meant to offend). I also only know Suffolk County, not Nassau.
1. Central Islip (very crowded/run down especially parts of 111, just a heck hole to drive over Suffolk Avenue).
2. Brentwood (north south route to Hauppauge is bad, just a dump in parts, some parts are sort of nice).
3. Downtown Bay Shore/near the train station (bad, bad, and really, let's face it, all the glitzing up is not going to save that place).
4. Parts of Shirley. I just hate William Floyd Parkway.
5. The town of Riverhead (very dubious characters hang around, especially near the Aquarium.)
I can't think of more, but I am sure there are a few.
Here are the ten towns I try to avoid at all costs and in this order
1)Manhasset
2)great neck/kings point
3)Syosset/Jericho
4)Freeport/Baldwin
5)Roosevelt
6)Brentwood
7)Central Islip
8)Gordon Heights
9)Bellport
10)any area just outside an "indian reservation" particularly the Mastic area
ETS-I find the super wealthy "persians" & others like them much more threatening than crackheads or homeless people.

Thats Moderator cut: inappropriate language Hilarious.
A few of my neighbors told me that compare has really good prices & better meats, so I checked it out. The meat is way better but the store is geared toward people that don't speak English. So I say they target those areas.
BTW I haven't shopped there since.

Yeah, all those parents with their baby strollers and toddlers. Scary stuff!
