I wish there was a "do not knock" list like there was a "do not call list."

How do you handle the door to door salesman and their scams?

It is so sketchy and twice I have opened the door to them, because they came at a time when I was expecting a delivery.

Any scary experiences?

A lot of places do have them. In Garden City you can put your name on a "do not solicit" list and the cops will ticket offenders.

I handle it by not answering the door to people I'm not expecting. In my current home, there are sidelights next to the door, I just look out, make eye contact and shake my head. I do not feel obligated to engage with these people.

Get a peephole for the door and never open it unless you know who it is. Just common sense here.

We have a small 3/4" x 3" sign I had made by a guy on Ebay attached above doorbell button that says No Soliciting. Not everyone goes away but I would say more than half do.

I have a "no soliciting" sign. Some people either don't see it, ignore it, or don't know what "soliciting"means. But I guess, for the most part, it works since I don't get as many interruptions as I used to.

Same here, lol. Jehovah Witnesses and cable providers still don't get it

If I see school kids selling fundraisers I always answer. The rest stand there until they give up as I don't open door even if they see me walking by front door-especially clipboard carrying morons.

In addition - go to the NRA's website and pick yourself up 2-3 member decals to put just under your "No Soliciting" sign

I Just don't answer the door period. I was also thinking of a no soclicitng sign too but If I get 1 a month that's a lot. Usually it's cabevision trying to get me back, Jehova's witness or a fundraiser. They knock twice wait a few then they leave. If I don't know you or there is not a car in driveway then I never open the door.
