My opinion - The LIRR monthly, weekly, 10trip, daily ticket SHOULD be a bearer ticket. It's not as if a monthly ticket can be used by more than one person at a time.

Well thats your opinion, not the RRs. For the record, 10 trippers are not marked male/female and can be used by more than one person at the same time on the same train. Daily tickets are bearer tickets.
Weeklies and monthlies are punched male/female to help ensure it is used by the person it is issued to. Nothing stops you from lending it to another person of the same sex although this is against the rules. The only exception to this would be mail and ride monthlies which have the name of the customer on them. The RR can and occasionally does demand ID to see if they match if they have suspicion its being used by someone else.
Monthlies are sold a greater than 50% discount, why shouldnt the RR enforce the rule they be used by the person who used it first?
^^that is correct. 10 trips can be used by even multiple people. I have asked the collecter to punch a 10 trip ticket upwards of 4 people on the same ride many times. never a problem at all.
Ughhh the most annoying thing happened today! So I'm on the train home and we stop @ Jamaica and people get on. The conductor comes around to check tickets again and comes to a girl who doesn't have a ticket. She tells him she doesn't have one and she is getting off at the next stop, which is Lynbrook... so he says "ok don't worry about it"... meanwhile, I'm sure there are plenty of other people who were getting off @ Lynbrook that DID pay. (by the way, she didn't get off at Lynbrook). Arrrrgh... why does being honest and doing the right thing always bite me in the butt?

One of my biggest complaints about the LIRR. I have seen beligerent people refuse to pay the fare stating that they dont have the money and dont have ID to fill out one of those "I will pay later" tickets.
Then when I forget my monthly, the conductor who has seen me every day and clearly recoginizes me charges me for the fare. I understand it is there job and those are the rules but maybe I, as a daily commuter, should pull the dirtbag routine the next time and get away with it.
After the last time I forgot my ticket and had to pay, I swore to report the next conductor that lets someone get off with a free ride because they are scamming the system.
I feel like the monthly ticket holders can't get away with anything! It's so awful how we are treated.
I wonder how many of those ADLs (I dont have cash, please bill me) get paid?
